Expression of Interest to Volunteer

Established in 1859, the Ballaarat Mechanics' Institute (BMI) sits proudly under the watchful eye of Minerva, goddess of wisdom, inviting a diverse group of people through its doors who have sought education, entertainment, and friendship. Today the BMI continues as an independently run cultural hub and Ballarat treasure with its significant building and and collections providing a rich source for research and inspiration in the community. Volunteers ply a vital role and there are lots of different ways to get involved across the lending library, heritage collections, building and tours, fundraising, and events and exhibitions.
