An all-drinking, all-eating exploration of the booze-fuelled birth of colonial Ballarat.
Starting with a native botanical cocktail and snacks at Ballarat’s newest distillery, Itinerant Spirits, your expert guides – award-winning food and wine writers Richard Cornish, Max Allen and Ballarats own Zac Hill – will lead you on an indulgent, leisurely and atmospheric evening walking tour. Matched Food Items by the renowned Liam Downes. We’ll step inside heritage buildings to explore the history of Ballarat’s own tradition of beer, sparkling shiraz and whisky along with colonial-era dishes recreated especially for this event. Starting and finishing at Itinerant Spirits right next to Ballarat Train Station.
This is an evening walk in the cool month of May, please dress for the weather and wear sturdy walking shoes as we are covering several kilometres on foot and some of the lanes we are taking are old and cobbled.
The walking tour has three groups, led by a host; leaving from Itinerant Spirits, at 6:30PM, and Returning to itinerant spirits at 09:00pm for a final group drink.
