Champagne Tasting Workshop @ BMI

22/10/2021 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

$44

Celebrate International Champagne Day with a tasting workshop at the Ballaarat Mechanics’ Institute with Amie Brûlée, Doctor of Wine.

We’ll taste two champagnes side by side – a well-known big brand and hand-crafted grower Champagne. Amie will guide you through the tasting, explaining the similarities and differences, and what makes Champagne taste so good! As well as tasting, you’ll learn about the history of Champagne (including scandals and heists) and the process of making bubbles (answering questions like: what is that mysterious secondary fermentation thing? and why is it white when it’s made from red grapes?).

The perfect way to start the weekend!

Amie Brûlée, otherwise known as Dr Amie Sexton, has a PhD in wine, is an experienced and engaging teacher, and has a quite a passion for fermented beverages. Over the years she has lived and worked in wine in Bordeaux (France), taught wine history and tasting at The University of Melbourne, and shared her love of wine in many workshops, presentations and performances.
