The Open Garden and Devonshire Tea event was a wonderful way to celebrate Spring, with the garden looking a picture coupled with a delightful Devonshire Tea many thanks to all involved, our volunteers, and in particular Malcolm Roberts and Michael Stubbs for lending their beautiful garden for this important fundraiser.
Here’s a little history on Errard Hall:
Designed by renowned architect Charles D’Ebro in the arts and craft style, Errard Hall has combined aspects of the late Victorian and Art Nouveau eras. Built for William Moxen Bean in 1902. Mr Bean esq. was a business man and the owner of the department store on the corner of Sturt and Bridge Streets, Bean, Son & Co. (now Norwich Plaza) He imported furnishings and homewares.
The grand residence has been a family home, nurses repatriation home during the 1930’s and 1940’s, a boarding house for Clarendon College and a Doctor’s practice. It is now a loved private home. The gardens were redesigned by Janene Byrne in 2014 to complement the home.
