About PMI Victoiran History Library

Established in 1854, we are the second oldest public library in Victoria. We have a collection of over 40,000 items and take pride in being the sole library in Australia with such an extensive collection available for loan. Our focus remains rooted in local history, housing a wealth of information encompassing most towns in Victoria.

About The Melbourne Ahtenaeum

The Library and Reading Room offers over 30,000 print, digital, and audio books, a range of magazine and newspaper subscriptions, and film and TV on DVD for borrowing and use in the library, and hosts regular music performances, talks, book and screen clubs, and other cultural events.

About The Ballaarat Mechanics’ Institute

Established in 1859, and independently run, membership to the BMI gives access to our lending library and heritage books and archives, and discounts on events and hire. All are welcome to visit for tours, cultural events and exhibitions, and to hire our unique function rooms. With the addition of a new finishing kitchen, the BMI is a special venue for holding celebrations, weddings, conferences and performances.
