DESCRIPTION:The search is on for Australia’s funniest teens!\n\n\nThis event is your opportunity to be in the live audience at the Ballarat Heat of Class Clowns\, and to see some up-and-coming comedians perfect their craft! \n\n\nMelbourne International Comedy Festival’s one-of-a-kind national comedy competition for young people is now happening. \nClass Clowns aims to inspire\, engage and elevate teens aged 14-18 (Years 9–12). It’s free to enter\, and all students need is a 3-5 minute original act in any style of comedy. \nHeats around the country start with a 2-hour workshop\, where students rehearse and refine their act with the help of a professional comedian\, followed by an opportunity to perform for a live audience (YOU!). \nSelected comedians go on to compete in state finals\, with the winners invited to participate in the National Grand Final for a chance to win a cash prize of $1500\, and a workshop package for their school. \nFor over two decades\, Class Clowns has helped hundreds of funny\, young peeps hone their comedy potential. DESCRIPTION:The newest local theatre company on the block\, LadderFrame Theatre\, is excited to show it’s well received original show – Big Women.\n\n\nUnder the guise of creative director Zara Wilson-Boyle and music director Chiara Angeli\, the show has been constructed using influences of Physical Theatre and Verbatim Theatre; its script composed of real words spoken by real people. \nThrough a process of interviews\, transcripts\, workshops and interpretation of theatrical conventions\, the cast and crew have created a dynamic theatrical piece that celebrates and uncovers the Big Stories of these Big Women. \nBefore the main performance Megan J Riedl will present her original spoken word poetry. \n\n\nDoors open | 7pm \nPre-show entertainment | 7:15pm \nMain event – Big Women | 8pm \n\n\nNote: While the BMI is an all ages venue the show does contain adult themes.
