SUMMARY:Day Tour of the Ballaarat Mechanics' Institute
DESCRIPTION:Take part in this important BMI fundraiser \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Featuring three fabulous bands: The Hideaways\, The Harmonies & Surf Shadows \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n The Hideaways \n \n \n \n \n \n The Hideaways takes its name from the iconic Ballarat cafe we all used to visit in the 60’s. We play every Thursday afternoon in Russell’s studio where we rock on to our most loved tunes. Russell and Roly have played together for many years as The Average Band\, Robert and Roly both played guitar in Zane Grey and John went on to play in Once\, Parrots\, Biggish Band\, Valiants and the Surf Shadows. They recently played at the sold out Swinging 60’s night at the Mecure Convention Centre Ballarat. Russell White – (Lead Guitar\, Vocals)\, Roland Wetherall – (Bass\, Vocals)\, Rob Wilkie – (Drums\, Vocals)\, John Ducardus – (Guitar\, Vocals). \n \n \n \n \n \n \n The Hideaways\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n The Harmonies \n \n \n \n \n \n A Ballarat band who have been together as a three piece for 7 years and consists of Thea Wilson on vocals\, Keith Ruyg on guitar\, percussion and vocals and John Adriaans on Bass and vocals. The trio specialises in 50s 60s and 70s music\, playing all the old favorites from years gone by.  								\n \n \n \n \n \n \n The Harmonies \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Surf Shadows \n \n \n \n \n \n The Surf Shadows is a Ballarat-based band that has played around Western Victoria for the past decades. We love the old surf instrumentals and blend these with some Shadows\, hence the name! We do some vocals to complement the instrumentals\, but you won’t hear any Beach Boys type surf! Both Bruce Schmidt (guitar) and bass player\, Kevin Zibell\, grew up in Mildura\, where the Murray River surf was pretty wild at Apex Park\, especially when a paddle steamer passed! Bruce and Kev are joined by John Ducardus (guitar) and Dave Dahlenburg (drums) to complete the line up. John surfed the breakers on Lake Wendouree in his youth while Dave went looking for whatever water he could find around Nhill. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Surf Shadows\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n The music will be predominantly retro rock & surf sounds from the 60’s & 70’s. There will be dancing and a 2 course dinner provided by Malcolm Roberts and a free drink on arrival.   								\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Room will be set for round tables of 10 people and the bar will be open all night. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Tickets: $120 per person or $110 per BMI members.  								\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Get Tickets\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Thank you to our supporters and providers \n \n Premium Wine Wholesaler | The Hideaways | The Harmonies | Surf Shadows | Waller & Chester Printers \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n This event takes place on Wadawurrung Country.
