Between 1999 and 2013\, she lived in Ballarat\, first working in  education at Damascus\, ACU and Federation University\, then moving into the funeral industry. She has continued to work in the funeral industry\, becoming a Celebrant and then a Palliative Care worker. Both her rural and family background and her professional work have fuelled her writing. Since leaving Federation University in 2013\, Anne has worked in funeral\, bereavement and palliative care. Her poems in Small Acts of Purpose highlight the tenderness and beauty she has witnessed\, and the need to do better in how we care for people at the time of death\, particularly for those who cannot speak for themselves.
