Ballarat Italian Association presents the

Multicultural Film Festival

17 & 18 March 2018
at the
Ballarat Mechanics Institute

 

 Saturday 17th March

Festival will be launch by Raimond Gaita (author of Romulus My Father) at 10.00am then at
10.30 am
Romulus My Father (Australian – released 2007 – 104 min )

It tells the story of Romulus, his beautiful wife, Christina, and their struggle in the face of great adversity to bring up their son, Raimond. It is a story of impossible love that ultimately celebrates the unbreakable bond between father and son.

 

Saturday 17th March 1.00 pm  Lemon Tree (Palestinian – Israeli – 106 min – released 2008 – Drama)

The story of a Palestinian widow who must defend her lemon tree field when a new Israeli Defence Minister moves next to her and threatens to have her lemon grove torn down.

 

Sunday 18th March 11.00 am The Noble Family (Mexican released 2013 – 108 min – Comedy) 

Three spoilt children who are cut off from their family fortune are forced to do the unthinkable – get a job

 

Sunday 18th March 2.00 pm The Colour of Paradise (Iranian – released Aug 2000 – 88 min – Drama)

“The Colour of Paradise” is a fable of a child’s innocence and a complex look at faith and humanity. Visually magnificent and wrenchingly moving, the film tells the story of a boy whose inability to see the world only enhances his ability to feel its powerful forces.
