BMI Responds to COVID-19
BMI Responds to COVID-19
In the interest of protecting our members, staff and volunteers in response to COVID-19, the Ballaarat Mechanics Institute will operate with reduced hours until, at least, the end of April.
This is a preventative measure to support the health and wellbeing of our members, staff and volunteers, as well as the broader community.
From Wednesday 18th March until, at least, the end of April:
– The library will open only from 11am to 3pm each Tuesday and Thursday, and only to enable members to return and/or borrow books.
– All current books on loan will be automatically extended until the end of April.
– All volunteer programs and non essential BMI activities will be suspended until further notice. This includes Twilight Talks and Building Tours
We will continue to provide room hire for events however this will be reviewed regularly in accordance with updated Government and Medical advice. All room hires will need to follow strict guidelines in relation to those attending and maintaining high hygiene standards.
We ask that you do not attend The BMI at all if you are displaying any of the following symptoms:
– flu-like symptoms such as coughing, sore throat and fatigue
– shortness of breath
For any health advice please visit https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au
All of these measures will be regularly reviewed and members will continue to be kept informed via email, social media, and The BMI Website.
We will continue to keep members, staff and volunteers updated on developments.
This is a time to avoid panic, to plan and be prepared and follow the advice of experts and authorities who are leading the national response. It is a time for us to remain calm and support others in our community.
Thank you for your understanding. We hope that you, your family and friends stay safe and well.
