Executive Manager Appointment
The President of the Ballarat Mechanics’ Institute, Professor Terry Lloyd, has announced the appointment of Mr Colin Jackson OAM to the position of Executive Manager for the Institute.
The BMI is committed to enhancing its role as an integral part of the Ballarat arts, cultural and educational community and economy. The role of Executive Manager was created in late 2017 to focus on the long-term sustainability of the BMI as Ballarat’s historic, cultural and educational institution.
Colin previously headed the Ballarat based not-for-profit, Conservation Volunteers Australia. During his 32 years with Conservation Volunteers Australia, Colin led the organisation from a Ballarat based community group to the leading practical conservation group, in Australia with offices across Australia and New Zealand.
Terry Lloyd said, “We look forward to Colin offering his extensive experience in all aspects of organisational development and management to the BMI. He comes to this position with a proven record of program development and delivery from local to national levels. He is committed to community engagement and quality customer experiences and we know the BMI will benefit greatly from his experience in building valuable relationships with government bodies, businesses and community groups.”
Some words from Colin Jackson; “I’m excited to have been appointed to the position of Executive Manager of the BMI and I look forward to working with the Board, Staff, and Volunteers toward the future success of the organisation.
The BMI is a well know establishment in Ballarat, with a very long history, yet many don’t know of the existing and potential roles, services and facilities the BMI offers to the wider community. One of my tasks will be to address this.”
