President’s Report September 2017

Thank You

A very big thank you to our BMI Secretary Ross Furness who deputised for our Venue Manager David Dahlenberg for some of August while David had a mid-year break and travelled overseas. Also we wish to thank those volunteers that have assisted in overseeing the most interesting ‘Foto Biennale’ Heritage Library display ‘Imprints’ that has been prepared by our Curator Amy Tsilemanis. We have an opening at 7pm on Friday 1 September.

Make sure you see this display as well as the Foto Biennale Fashion Photography ‘Reverie Revelry’ display in the Minerva Space. Twilight Talks The talks re-commence soon and run through October and into November. Once again, our Talks Coordinator Dr Joan Hunt has put together a stimulating program. We start on Friday 22 September with Cr Sam McIntosh who will talk about her experiences as Mayor of Ballarat.

Pleasant Sunday Afternoon

The Friends of the BMI are conducting a Pleasant Sunday Afternoon in the Humffray Room on 24 September. It will feature live music and a ‘luscious’ afternoon tea. Tables of eight are being arranged so get a ‘table’ together. Tickets are $25 pp. Bookings are at the Library Desk or phone on 5331 3042.

BMI Tours

A reminder to all that each Saturday the BMI conducts $5 ‘tourist-based’ tours that run from 10.30 to 11.30am. So far these tours have been successful. We are encouraging people to book for the tours online. Go to: BMI Tours at trybooking. The tours cover BMI history, the facilities we offer and provide general tourist information – great for your friends and visitors!!
