Curator’s Corner – April 2017

with BMI Curator Amy Tsilemanis.

One aspect of my work as Curator and PhD researcher is how arts and heritage can come together in interesting ways to enagage people with the BMI.

As part of White Night Ballarat we were lucky enough to have a feast of creativity on display with beautiful music from The Winter Berries, a powerful improvised performance by Jam n Jar, the premiere and one off experience of the Night Reverses featuring the poetry of Nathan Curnow and music by Geoffrey Williams, and our artist in residence Ellen Sørensen. Ellen performed her entrancing music with voice and piano and also created an installation that responded to the history of the BMI, bringing together past and present on this special night.

We were also able to run an artist talk where I interviewed Ellen which you can enjoy here.

Thanks again to all our volunteers, visitors and our event sponsors: FedUni Live Production, Movie Garden, and Grounded Pleasures.
