Final Series of Twilight Talks 2015
For the final series of Twilight Talks this year, Ann Cato has organised four speakers to talk about themes such as history, medicine, and comedy. Put these dates in your diary and you'll be set to experience relaxing Friday evenings from the end of October to mid-November. Guests meet on 4.30pm for cheese and wine, before a 5pm start in the beautifully restored Humffray Room. Tickets are $6 for members and $10 for non-members.
Dr. John Garner retired Ballarat practitioner will speak on the topic “the Winds of Change”- a description of the great changes in the practice of medicine in the western world in the 19th century as exemplified in the bound volumes of “The Lancet” medical journals held by the Institute in the Heritage Library.
October 30th – John Hosking a great storyteller will speak on “What’s so funny” a discussion with examples by the speaker and others of humour inverse covering topics ranging from geese through teeth and death!
Bruce Price, President Arch of Victory/Avenue of Honour Committee will speak on the topic “Ballarat’s Arch and Avenue – Past, Present and Future” and its ongoing significance and importance.
Andrew Wallace – President of the Ballarat Historical Society will speak on the topic “Capture the Vision” project and will accompany the talk with historical and contemporary photos of Ballarat.
